Step 1: Gather the materials you need
Filigree metal bases
Metal embeding elements
Delicate metal chains
5mm jump rings
E6000 Glue for jewelry making
CG 500 Swarovski glue for crystals
Step 2: Take the time to make a combination you like
If you want to keep the look simple and classic you can use a filigree base and an embedding element in the same plating color, so you would get a one piece look for this pendant. Still, I would suggest to make a small difference between them, like using a shiny base with a matt finish element in the center, it’s a small difference, but it looks nicer this way.
But if you want to make a look which is a bit more fashion forward you can combine two metal plating colors together, as you can see in these antique silver and yellow gold combined pendants.
Because there are so many filigree bases and even more metal embedding element you can use for making this kind of pendants, you might want to take the time to play with them a little, and try different combinations until you get the right look that you want for these pendants.
Step 3: Gluing the metal embedding elements on the filigree bases
The E6000 glue is great for connecting metal elements together. Use a toothpick to apply the glue on the base and place the element in its place, and leave it to dry for a few minutes.
This glue is transparent, so don’t be afraid, and use a fairly nice amount of glue.
Step 4: Gluing the crystals in the metal embedding elements
For this kind of jewelry pieces with a bold combination of two different metal colors, I choose to use simple colors like clear crystal and white opal.
The CG-610 SW glue is really good for embedding the small crystals, it takes about 24 hours to dry, but it is transparent and very strong.
Step 5: Hanging the pendants on metal chains
One of the great things about these filigree bases, is that they have many small holes that you can use to connect the metal chain too.
